Youth Category Entry Rules:

1. Entrants in the Youth Category must be age 17 or younger.
2. Entries in this category can be a quilt that has at least 50% of the work done by the youth. Working with an adult is encouraged, and we understand sometimes necessary, to complete the entry.
   
3. All of the general rules and category rules apply to the entries.

Entry Fees

Each entry must be accompanied by a $5 fee.
Youth entries (age 17 or younger) are FREE.
Multiple entries per person will be accepted with separate fees and forms for each. You may add all fees on one check. Entries must be in one of the specified categories.

ENTRY FORM

General Contest Rules:

1. Competition is open to all quilt makers.
2. The quilt can be of any shape. Quilts should be between 18" and 48" wide and length from 18" to 48". Remember, we have to hang these quilts at the Festival. Please make sure your "shape" will hang well on display.
3. To enter competition, send entry form and entry fees, along with at least two 4" x 6" high resolution photos, submitted on photo paper. One needs to be a full view of the quilt and one up close to show more detail. Do not send quilts. The quilts should be brought to the Original Creative Festival at the Sharonville Convention Center June 12 by 3 pm for judging.
4. Entry forms, fees and photos must be received by May 20, 2013, at the CDM Shows office at 2724 2nd Ave., Des Moines IA 50313. No late entries will be accepted.
5. Quilts must have been made in the last five years and must not have been exhibited at previous CDM Shows. (Original Creative Festival, Round Bobbin Expo, Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival)
6. All quilts must be finished pieces and be sewn by hand or machine or both.
7. Quilts must be clean, in show condition and free of odor or fragrance.
8. All quilts must have a cloth label sewn on the back lower side with the title of your piece, your name, complete address and phone number. Label should not show. A pinned paper label will not be accepted.
9. All quilts must have a 4-inch cloth sleeve sewn on the top of the quilt for hanging. Sleeve must not show. Any quilt missing the sleeve will not be considered for judging.
10. Judging will be based on originality, creativity, visual impact, and workmanship.
11. Entries must be able to travel to other CDM Shows throughout the year. While great care is taken to protect the items, embellishments may become damaged. CDM Shows is not liable for normal damages, loss or theft. Items will be returned the end of October 2013.
12. Quilts must be able to be folded. The winning entries will be shipped by various carriers such as UPS or Fed-Ex. Items deemed inappropriate for travel will not be accepted.
13. Quilts and/or the persons who made the quilt may be photographed and used in our promotional materials.
14. The judge's decision is final.
15. Judging will take place at the Original Creative Festival in Sharonville, OH.

Sewing machines are
provided in the classroom.

additional items needed.
